Who the boxes go to
-
01Seniors on a pension
A pension that stopped covering the week
Many of the people on the routes are older and live alone. A box at the door means the holiday table is set without a trip to the shop or a choice between food and medicine.
19.3% of seniors who live alone in Israel are below the poverty line Source: National Insurance Institute, Poverty Report 2024, p. 3
-
02Holocaust survivors
Survivors who shouldn't have to ask
Holocaust survivors living alone are among the first names on the list before every holiday. Volunteers bring the food, sit down for lunch at the club, and stay for the company.
-
03Single parents
One income, a full house
Single parents carry the rent, the children and the holiday on one paycheck. A delivered box frees the week's money for everything else.

04Reservist families
When one parent is called up
When a parent is away on reserve duty, the other carries the family alone. Food at the door is one less thing to hold together.
About 1 in 5 reservists' spouses worked less than usual in 2025, to carry the family alone Source: Bank of Israel, Annual Report 2025, p. 137
